Yackley to Chair National Ag & Rural Bankers Committee
Mike Yackley, President of BankWest’s Onida and Selby Branches, assumed the American Bankers Association’s (ABA) Agricultural and Rural Bankers Committee chair position for 2020-2021 during the ABA Unconventional Convention, held virtually on Monday, October 19 and Tuesday, October 20.
Yackley has served on the ABA Agricultural and Rural Bankers Committee for four years and this past year served as vice-chair. He chaired the Advisory Board that plans the ABA Agricultural Bankers Conference. Mike has also served as a member of the South Dakota Bankers Association Ag Committee, with roles as vice-chair and Chairman in previous years.
Mike has served as BankWest’s branch president in Onida for 26 years and in 2013 assumed the same role for the Selby branch. The bulk of his experience has been in agricultural banking. Mike grew up on the family farm in Onida, South Dakota. He is a member of the OAEDC (Onida Area Economic Development Corporation) and worked diligently to help bring an 80 million gallon per year Ethanol plant to central South Dakota. Mike has focused on the importance of building and leveraging relationships in advancing production agriculture in his communities and South Dakota.
“Our focus on the ABA Agricultural and Rural Bankers Committee is to represent ag bankers across the country in Washington, D.C.,” Yackley said. “It’s been a privilege working with and supporting the agricultural bankers across our great county and especially in South Dakota.”
